Rough Month

If any of you follow me on Facebook, you know that I lost my beloved sister, Sheryl, on February 11, 2016. She was with her long time partner, James Shumberg. They died in a single engine plane crash off the coast of Destin, Florida. This tragedy put my life in a tailspin for a few weeks. My sister and I were very close and she was a huge supporter of my writing. I'm working through my mourning and back to writing, because that's what she would have wanted me to do.

I have three major projects for this month, and hopefully I'll get at least one of them done. The one I want to finish the most, is the editing and re-releasing of Suddenly. I know there are several people wondering what happened to that book. The publisher it was originally published with went out of business, so the title was returned to me. The original editing was very poorly done, so I've been going over it with a fine tooth comb. My goal is to make it available again before the end of March.

The other two projects I'm working on are my Christmas romance, that I didn't finish in time for Christmas, and a new drama that will cross the boundaries of lesbianism and transsexualism. It's been an interesting story that has taken twists that I didn't expect, so I hope the readers will be equally as surprised as I have been.

Where Does The Time Go

Being Super Busy I started writing this blog post on July 19th, and here it is September, and I'm just now getting back to finish it. I'm changing things because the original information is outdated.  I spent the summer working on my new young adult lesbian romance, working, and trying to spend time with my grandkids. I have three grandsons who live in Colorado, so I only get to see them during the summer. This summer was so crazy that I didn't get to spend much time with them, which sucks, but it's the way things go sometimes.  The grandkids my partner, Rosa and I are raising are back in school and doing lots of school stuff. My oldest grandson, Jacob, turned 15 this summer. I can't believe it. He's almost 6 feet tall and in marching band. My oldest granddaughter, Jazmyn, is 13 going on 23. It's NaNoWriMo Season

Today is the beginning of NaNoWriMo 2023, and I've decided to work on a new YA romance this year. It has been almost two years since I published a new book! I can't believe how time has gotten away from me, but I've started about five new projects in this time period, so my goal for 2024 is to finish at least three of them, including the YA romance I'm about to start.  I had been torn about finishing a book I started during Camp NaNoWriMo in April or starting a new story. The story I started in April may not have 50,000 words left, but if I finish it next month, I can get it out to readers before the end of the year. Yes, I realize that is an overly ambitious goal, and that's why I decided to work on a new story for NaNoWriMo and start editing the book I started in April.  Yesterday was Halloween, and it was my partner's birthday. She turned 65 yesterday, and I adore her. This year has been a wild ride, and I'm learning to handle the ups and downs better. T

Tracy Chapman

I haven't gotten much done with my books this month. My life is still a chaotic mess, but I've been reading and listening to music more than I have in a while. I was so thrilled to see Tracy Chapman perform her classic song "Fast Car" with Luke Combs, who has made it a hit for himself. I had hoped they duet would happen after the song became so popular again and it was an amazing performance.  Tracy is another songstress who touches my heart a lot when I'm thinking about the changes going on in my life. In fact, during previous changes when I was first coming to terms with my lesbianism, I was listening to Tracy's CDs " Telling Stories " and " New Beginning ." I feel that my life is headed for a new beginning and hopefully that will mean more telling stories for me.  I'm still plugging along on my next YA lesbian romance, but it's been slow going.
