New Character Ideas for Going Country

I've been a bit stalled on writing Going Country because my characters weren't being who I wanted them to be.  The main character, Aimee I wanted to be a bit of a punk city girl being forced to move to the country but as I started writing that wasn't how the character developed.  I've changed my mind about her based on the way the character was developing.  Instead of being a city girl coming to the country with a chip on her shoulder, Aimee is going to be a city girl who has always felt like an outcast.  Besides being gay, she didn't feel that she belonged in any group at her high school or with her family.  She's an artist and a dreamer and her parents are believers in being practical and don't encourage her to follow her artist dreams. Her father was originally going to go freakishly religious but I totally couldn't make that happen.  He is just going to be a workaholic whose lost his job and lost his direction.  Aimee's mom was a homemaker in t...

Getting Suddenly Ready for Self-Publication

I decided that I wasn't going to wait for a publisher to pick up Suddenly.  Partially because I'm getting impatient and I want to get it out there for readers and partially because I refuse to change the story line to anything but a young adult lesbian romance.  I hope that anyone who reads Suddenly or any of my other books will drop me a note to let me know what you liked and what you didn't like.

New Year and Editing

I just have to say that I am so glad 2011 is over. It was one of the top five worst years of my life.  My girlfriend and I seemed to be fighting all the time about my daughters. My daughters, whom I love dearly, have both had rough years too and hopefully this will be the year we'll all get out lives together.  My girls have given me a lot of material for writing about and I'm sure that I'll have more than one story at that will have a character going through some of the crap they have been through in the past year but it will be in the form of lesbian relationships instead of straight. Well maybe, there will be a straight girl gets wooed by lesbian in a few. :) This year is also going to be a year of editing my work.  I'm back to editing on "Suddenly" and I do believe I'm going to self-publish it.  If all goes well I'll have it available by mid summer.  I hope everyone's year is starting off great and I hope I get a of new fans this year. Pe...

Back to Editing

Well, since the last publisher I sent my book to didn't even bother to let me know why they weren't interested in it, I decided it must need more editing.  I'm also still seriously considering self-publishing and keeping the price cheap so young lesbians can afford to download the book and read it.  I'd rather it get read for little to no money than to not get read at all.  Of course, anyone who wants to read the unedited version is welcome to check it out on my website at http://www.metudor.com/ .

Beware of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence comes from all walks of life and all types of relationships.  It comes in the form of physical abuse, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Too many young adults today enter into relationships and fall victim to domestic violence.  There are a number of signs of domestic violence and many places to get help.  If you are with someone who is becoming abusive, end the relationship and seek help if you need it.  Being alone is better than being abused. Given time you'll meet the right person who will treat you with true love and respect. I bring this up because my 22 year old daughter is trying to get away from an abuser. Unforturnately she has children with him which makes things a lot harder. (It's not unfortunate that she has children but it's unfortunate that she has them with him). When I was married to my daughters' father he was very emotionally and verbally abusive to me and dealt with it for 17 years until I got sick of it....

Not Going To Get My NaNoWriMo Word Count

This month has been absolutely insane with family drama, all of which will end up in a story at some point, but it's the story that's going to keep me from getting the word count for NaNoWriMo.  My characters are just not turning out like I see them in my head and the story has taken a different direction then I intended so that has me stumped. I did get almost 25000 words done though and hopefully the story will take form and move forward. Other news is that I still haven't heard anything from PD Publishing so I'm going to assume no word means no and I can start looking for other publishers to consider my book.  I'm torn about the self-publishing thing.  It's a lot of money to invest when I can't even get feed back from a publisher. We'll see though.

No News From Publisher

Well, I still haven't heard back from PD Publishing so I'm going to assume no answer means no.  I'm going to work on doing some more editing on the story after the first of the year.  Right now I'm working on a new story for NaNoWriMo.  It's going pretty slowly because I'm having issues with my characters.  It started out about a young adult girl who is forced to move from the city to the country and her having an attitude about it and another young adult girl pushes her to change her attitude but the characters are not going in that direction so I'm not real sure how it will turn out but I'm going to keep plugging along and try to get my word count in.
